How deep do you grind the stump?

In most cases, we grind the stump several inches below the surrounding soil level. This depth is enough to prevent regrowth and allow you to regrade, seed, or landscape over the area. If you have a specific project in mind, such as installing a patio or planting a new tree, we can adjust our grinding depth accordingly.

Can roots grow back after stump grinding?

Once we grind the stump and main surface roots, regrowth is unlikely, especially for most common Central Iowa tree species. Some species may attempt minimal regrowth from remaining roots, but this is usually weak and short lived. If you are concerned about a particular tree type, we can advise you during the evaluation.

Will stump grinding damage my lawn or nearby plants?

Originally they said it wouldn't be until the afternoon. Rod called me back about 5 minutes later and said he rearranged his schedule and put me as a priority. (Not sure if it was due to the devastation in my voice) but they came out and did an amazing job. Were very kind and patient with me and his team were just as amazing.
